Make or Break Make or Break is an illustrated short story created for the Kiss Me Quick exhibition. With this piece I explore memory loss and confusion, creating a false history from found objects. Often people living with dementia are surrounded by objects that have lost all meaning to them; when pushed to reveal what an object means, from fear of admitting their loss of memory, they create a false history for the object. This act results in a patchwork of true and false memories woven around people, places and time. The inspiration for the piece is a series of postcards, these postcards are mostly dated pre First World War and were all sent from Maragte by people holidaying there. I have created a short story using the hand written text to form a story line and the signature names as characters. The story is interspered with prints that are generated from the imagery on the postcards.
