A Solaina residency, Galicia This residency took place over a week in July 2008 in Galicia, northern Spain at A Solaina, Pilono. The work that I created derives from my practice; I found an object at the foundation and decided that I would obsess over it for a week. I drew the object and made copies out of clay and wax. The final work became a story that is repeated over and over, each time it is retold it takes on a different shape; some parts are missing, some exaggerated and some times it is the same. The wax sculptures are taken apart and put back together, held loosely with pins, fragile and cherished. They sit in an equally fragile box made of paper and pins. The work plays with the idea of the fragility of memory, an attempt to hold on the precious moments we live.
